Today's Sicko Posting

Deborah Jeane Palfrey To Be Remembered On Moon, Wonkette

Editor's  note:  When NASA sets these well-intentioned things up you just know someone is eventually going to pull a stunt (in rather bad taste) like this sooner or later.

Send Your Name to the Moon With New Lunar Mission, NASA

It is sad to see a fun, interactive feature perverted in such a senseless way by pundits in Washington. It makes you wonder, though, how many people named "Seymour Hiney" will find themselves on this lunar adventure?

BRILLIANT! Simply BRILLIANT!

That's what makes this country great, that we can do this kind of stuff without censorship. Irony and bad taste are fundamental principles of satire! Come on, get over it, what's the harm in this? Everyone needs to be remembered.

I don't see anything "sicko" about this. Get off your high horse, Keith. It's kinda funny, and only slightly pathetic. Palfrey did what she did (in her work and also in her death) at least partly to be remembered. She didn't hurt anyone in either accomplishment. She'd probably get a big chuckle out of it.

If this is "sicko", then how would yoiu characterize a similar certificate made out to a truly vile character?

The idea of getting your name on a microchip that gets deposited where people have already been is actually vastly less engaging and creative than having it on a spacecraft headed much farther away, as is already being done.

The certificate isn't real. If you visit the send your name to the moon website you will see that you cannot enter a middle name. Also, the May 1st certificate has a 6 digit certificate number. I submitted a name on May 5th (four days later) and only have a 5 digit certificate number.
