No Rest for the Myth-Makers, Free Space
"Parts of the show are pretty goofy, but I enjoyed watching a chop-chop version of the scientific process in action. I hope I’m not ruining the ending for anyone who missed it last night and wants to catch a re-run, but Mythbusters says the only hoax going on is the one put forth by people who say the moon landings are a hoax. Unfortunately, this probably won’t make a whit of difference to anyone who doesn’t ascribe to rationality and logic -- the foundations of science, even science-lite like Mythbusters -- and it’s concerning that these attributes have waned faster than the bull market."

I agree with most of what Irene said, but I disagree with her "science-lite" description of the show.
Due to time constraints, there are necessarily going to be things not shown, but not left out.
She missed an opportunity to compare CAIB member Scott Hubbard's "Mythbuster" test of sending a block of foam weighing 1.67 lbs into the RCC at 531 mph.
That test, which dispelled every myth about the foam's inability to damage the RCC in anything other than a superficial way, was akin to Mythbusters' firing of chickens, frozen and thawed, through the windshields of aircraft.
If memory serves, didn't Buzz Aldrin once punch-out a British photog who asked him if the Moon landings were faked?
Computer simulations were once based upon real-world events, but it seems that they're based upon "best guesses" anymore, and that's a recipe for bad science and disasters.
