Space Input to the Citizen's Briefing Book

Reader update: "I've been following what the Obama Transition team has been doing with their Change.gov website and saw that just recently they created something they call the Citizen's Briefing Book. The idea behind this is for people to : "Share your ideas on any issue facing the new administration, then rate or comment on other ideas. The best rated ideas will rise to the top -- and be gathered into a Citizen's Briefing Book to be delivered to President Obama after he is sworn in." Right now there are a few regarding NASA and space exploration but not enough votes to rise to the top. I just wanted to let you know about this with hopes that you would make a post about it. Your website reaches a large pro-space audience and maybe with that kind of exposure the space exploration ideas will have a chance to reach our President-elect."

I know this is one of the issues you have discussed anyway and I think it is an important one. Healthcare in America, not just for the poor but for everyone.. I am middle class and if I lose my job, which I may in this economy, I will not be able to afford health insurance, as I have a mortgage, utilities etc.. I would have to take a chance and go without..
Relative to this, my sister, a healthy , life long non smoker, was just diagnosed with lung cancer 6 months ago. She has a husband and three children 11 yrs and younger.. she has had to leave her job and was in a clinical trial using tarceva at Mass General Hospital in Boston.. since the tarceva is working but not getting all the lesions, another drug has to be introduced so she will not longer be in the trial... Tarceva is approximately THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH! How does anyone afford that...??? Elderly people who cannot afford their medications... we are bailing out auto titans and financial liars and cheats but we can't do anything about health care.. There also needs to be more funding for lung cancer early detection just like the prescreeing for breast, prostate and colon cancer....the rate of cases is increasing very quickly and without early detection is a very grim disease ..
Thank you.
