STS-129 Launched

NASA: "Space shuttle Atlantis and its crew of six astronauts are headed for space, ready to begin their 11-day mission to the International Space Station. The climb to orbit takes about 8 1/2 minutes. Following a smooth countdown, with no technical issues and weather that steadily improved throughout the afternoon, the shuttle lifted off from Launch Pad 39A on-time from Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 2:28 p.m. EST."

That was a very clean launch. Very impressive. The Shuttles seem to be flying better than ever right now. I believe that makes five Shuttle launches this year, which is a decent flight rate. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Beautiful launch!

But I kept imagining that it was an SD-HLV launch of an Orion or Altair. Well maybe someday:-)

Flying better thab ever---and safer! Tell us again how it makes even political "sense" to retire Shuttle, layoff 2-3K of American space workers, take half of the money the US "saves" and give it to Russian space workers to keep building Soyuz and Progress vehicles that the US will pay out the nose for--and that have No down payload capability, much less about a 10th of the up capability of the Shuttle! Brilliant!

Well I'm not gonna argue for or against Methuselah(STS) she has served us well. I just wanna say picture perfect launch from my front yard . But I to did imagine some HLV pod type of thing on it at one point. Of course the drawback to that,Not reusable.Anyway NICE LAUNCH NASA GOOD JOB!
