New NASA Logo Designs

Space, the designer's frontier, Boston Globe

"Ideas asked four graphic designers to come up with a new emblem for the 21st-century space agency, to conjure a vision of NASA that fits the present."

Keith's note: I still like my "wormball" logo concept.

There some that people who will say it should be a big picture of an astronaut with a big X.. OR a picture of the moon with a big X . But perhaps it should include a question mark somewhere. With all of these suggestion I'm jesting of course, Although wait for it there are some constellationphiles out there that will suggest it. Seriously I think it should include all the planets rather than just an orbit graphic.

THERE IS NO NEED TO SCREW WITH THE NASA MEATBALL……AGAIN!!! The logo is the least of the Agency’s worries right now! Just because something is old doesn’t mean it is bad. Can’t anything just be a classic or tradition? This is an extraordinarily bad idea as well as a complete waste of time, money and effort. We have already been through this before…leave the bloody logo alone!!!!!!!!!!!

I just threw up in my mouth a little. How about no, to all of the above options.

Agree, they're all awful imho.

When we actually have a new HSF program that will succeed and genuinely inspires positive creativity, then try a new logo to match.

There are no "T's" to leave uncrossed in the logo so they left the "A's" uncrossed.

You have to be kidding me? Leave the d!@* logo alone, and fix the agency!

If you're going to seriously consider a logo change, just throw in the towel, go to Pixar and let them create "The Great Mission to Mars" and be done with it.

A new logo is easy...remove "NASA" from the meatball and replace it with "WHATEVER". That way it'll match Obama's vision.

Uh I said I was kidding I guess Sarcasm doesn't go over to well on NASA watch anymore.

Damn the Gravity!

All logos associated with the Constellation program are pretty good, the Ares one especially.

So that's something. NASA's logo-creating abilities have never been better! Bolden should mention this in his next appearance on the Hill.

Something "wrong" with the product? Sales in the Cellar? Just slap a new logo on the patent medicine bottle and call it "New and Improved" That will fix everything.

Thank God this was just a stupid stunt by a newspaper. Last thing we need to be spending money on when we are so budget constrained.

Excellent idea Mike under the gaze of the Obamavision the architecture will (eventually) deliver WHATEVER the destination we require: Moon, Phobos, Mars, Ceres, Outer Moons, Oort Cometary Halo, Pandora,...!
That being said NASA is a trademark that other space agencies would kill for. I mean UKSA! What were they thinking!

Leave the meatball alone, maybe give it more of a 3D look, which has been done, but leave the basic design alone.

Why are we spending MONEY on this?? Leave it ALONE!

Editor's note: No one at NASA is spending a penny on this. Calm down.

If there should there be ANY change, there should be 17 distinct stars in the background of the meatball to reflect our fallen astronauts.

Spiff out................

The black and white reminds me of late 70s album covers. I think we'd need to hold up lighters for every launch.

The etch-a-sketch swirly pattern makes me think of radiation tearing up the astronauts. Maybe that's just me.

I vividly remember the "de-worming" here at Dryden a few years back. While I've always liked the meatball better, the fact that we had to go around to all our computers and equipment with a sharpie to scratch out the worm on the parts tags..........just so little-man Goldin didn't see it and throw a fit....

Sorry that my take on the logo was over your head. You really advocate the "NASA" should be replaced with "WHENEVER", which in hindsight is more discriptive of Obama's distorted and lame vision.

How about the four wise monkeys:

Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, do no evil!

I think that I can own that insult too!
Excellent idea Mike under the gaze of the Obamavision the architecture will (eventually) deliver: Moon, Phobos, Mars, Ceres, Outer Moons, Oort Cometary Halo, Pandora,...! WHENEVER the TRL is really really ready!

Just to to forestall a third putdown:

Excellent idea Mike under the gaze of the Obamavision the architecture will (eventually) deliver: Moon, Phobos, Mars, Ceres, Outer Moons, Oort Cometary Halo, Pandora,...! and WHEREVER else we chose to go!

WHATEVER we want
WHENEVER we are ready
WHEREVER we want to go

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFR9TNsByLk 2:10 applies.

OK..so WHY are we talking about this at all??? NASA is about to be Canceled as an agency if Obama has his way anyway!

Editor's note: You are a CLASSIC case of what Bolden was referring to. You are posting form 128.xxx.xxx.xx - a NASA IP. Your comments have absolutely zero basis in reality - indeed they border upon being irrational. Yet that does not stop you from posting them. And you just used taxpayer-funded resources on taxpayer-funded time to do so. Get back to work on my space program, please.

Really mind-blowing mind mapping applications you posted here and i used 2 of them, but i like the mind genius.
