Good Times Ahead at NASA Glenn

NASA Glenn Research Center will fare well under Obama's plan, space agency Administrator Charles Bolden says, Plain Dealer

"President Barack Obama's controversial plan to turn away from a moon mission and focus instead on new space-exploring technologies will "significantly raise the profile" of NASA Glenn Research Center, says Charles Bolden, head of the space agency.

Sen. Brown Joined NASA Administrator Bolden at NASA Glenn Research Center

"Today's visit is part of an ongoing effort to develop and grow the relationship between NASA Glenn and the business community. NASA Glenn is one of Cleveland's best assets and today's visit is an important step to show NASA Headquarters that Glenn should be one of NASA's best assets."

NASA Names Lugo As Director Of Glenn Research Center

Space Space Space Space Space......

What about the aeronautics side of the house? Yeah remember those guys--the bread and butter of that lab.

When is somebody going to start talking about bolstering aeronautics R & D spending?

Maybe I guess NASA doesn't do that anymore either........

Sheesh!

Spiff out..............

Glen aerospace is there, the politicians are just not talking about it.

Aeronautics Research: The FY 2011 funding augmentation will be used to increase research
activities into green aviation and Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen)
capabilities.

Next quote

Aeronautics Research Augmentation:
GRC will support the Integrated Systems Research Program, addressing operational and safety
issues related to the integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into the national airspace by
providing expertise in: communications related to allocation of radio frequency spectrum;
communication links (satellite, line of sight, network and datalink protocols); and simulations
(NextGen communication schemes scalable to support the introduction of UAS).

GRC, along with other NASA Centers, will support the augmented research and development
efforts, including grants and cooperative agreements, to support NASA’s environmentally
responsible aviation project. These research plans, which are currently being developed, will
include design and feasibility studies, high-fidelity simulations, flight demonstrations, design
competitions and prize challenges.

GRC I wouldn't start to celebrate just yet. The Senate revisions states: "... Also, all of the new technology that was to be funded gets eviscerated as well by as much as 50%."

I feel for you guys, you always seem to take it in the backside when the big boys get in a dust up.

Hope you can make it after JSC/MSFC/KSC take your 1/2 oz of cheese to fix their problems.
