Wayne Hale's New Job

I have to admit -- I've never heard of SAS before....

Godspeed Mr. Hale.

Good for Wayne! The commercial space sector needs someone of his stature tackling the human space exploration challenges...

Can anybody explain why NASA let someone like Hale leave when he is just the kind of person they need?

Why was he moved out of his Shuttle manager position 2 years ago and into a position that, by comparison, was a nothing job - within NASA he appeared to have had no responsibilities, no serious functions other than speech making ?

I suspect it had something to do with his hesitance to approve the launches with bad eco sensors. Also, he had announce nobody was going to stay so no one was going to be able to promoted and also anytime he appeared on the dais at the press conferences he always came of as the smarter and more trustworthy guy.

Very unfortunate that NASA takes the best and most experienced people and forces them out. Then they put these thirty-somethings and inexperience into leadership positions and wonder why they don't succeed. The entire NASA management ranks in human space flight needs some serious review.
