Meatball Makes its Final Conquests

21 August 1998:  The VAB gets a makeover: The world's largest meatball will soon grace its surface.

Editor's note: According to a photo published by Florida Today, the VAB is being repainted. While the American flag survives the makeover, the bicentennial logo (with its distinct NASA worm-like curves) will be replaced with the ubiquitous NASA meatball logo. Alas, we predicted that this would eventually happen as part of our Worm Watch series.

Soon Dan's logo makeover of NASA will be complete. All that remains on his logo eradication list are the worm logos on each Space Shuttle Orbiter and the worm logo carved in stone on NASA Headquarters. It is only a matter of time before these worms are eradicated.

Hmmm, I wonder what a FOIA request would reveal about the additional cost to the taxpayers for all of these logo upgrades?

Update: It had to happen sooner or later: Meatballs are now appearing on Shuttle Orbiters according to exclusive Boeing photos [1] [2] online at Florida Today's Space Online

Despite Florida Today's journalistic prowess, NASA Watch has obtained a photo of the original NASA logo design being painted on the wing of Atlantis. Boeing management quickly covered up this mistake and sent the politically correct photos to Florida Today.

Sorry guys, looks like we scooped you again ;-)
