30 May 2000: NASA Awards Are Still Infested With Worms

JPL held a NASA Honor Awards ceremony on 16 May 2000. This image was taken from the event's printed program. The worm is clearly visible on the Exceptional Achievement Medal (EAM). (editor's note: WormWatch already shows the infested Space Flight Medal.)

Editor's note: Now that the worm's presence has been revealed, we're sure that NASA will get to work changing this medal. With "Faster - Better - Cheaper" so deftly practiced at NASA these days, it shouldn't cost more than several tens of kilobucks. The team leader for this effort will no doubt quality for an EAM him/herself. After all, the EAM is "awarded for a significant, specific accomplishment or contribution clearly characterized by a substantial and significant improvement in operations, efficiency, service, financial savings, science, or technology which contributes to the mission of NASA".

Certainly, purging the agency of these slimy little things gets us to Mars (or LEO) all that much faster.

Editor's note: WormWatch has already noted the worm-infested Space Flight Medal.
